Great results for the Girls at the Passage West offshore regatta Ringaskiddy Cork Over the weekend
The Wicklow Neptune composite crew of Amelia Brennan , Amelie Ribero , Kate Dunne ,Aoife Dunne and Cox Shay Dunne won in great style . Coming from behind they caught and passed the Local Kilmacsimon crew to take gold in the J16CW4X junior women's quad. Castletownsend were third. They have started this year in the same way that they finished last year Congratulations Girls.
Xena Jordan represented the club in CW1X Women's open Solo and after a year away from the sport to study in America she came back with a bang . Xena took silver in a field that included Ireland's top 5 female coastal rowers including the current world champion Monika Dukarska who took gold just ahead of her. Not satisfied with that she was whisked off to the National rowing centre 30 minutes away where she competed for our partner club Neptune in the Skibbereen regatta which is the biggest river rowing regatta in the country. That too was very successful for her as she took gold with her double partner in the B Final followed by another win in the C final on Sunday . Congratulations Xena.
The men's crew of Marc Nichols Peter Doyle Chris Dunne Andrew Breen and Shay Dunne had no luck in their Masters quad race they were powering up the course until they had problems with their seats that put them out of contention. Alex Dunne also competed in the Men's open solo he enjoyed the experience but was not in the placings. Well done to everyone that competed and supported us at our first offshore outing of the year. Next up is the Swift Irish Masters organised by Olderfleet rowing club Antrim this bank holiday weekend . best of luck to the 5 crews we have competing.
